This scholarship was established by gifts from the Miami University alumni employees of Arthur Andersen and Company with a matching gift from the company. Preference in awarding is given to senior accountancy majors and master of accountancy students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur H. Carter Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>

This scholarship was established by the estate of Marjorie Sells Carter in memory of her late husband, Maj. Gen. Arthur H. Carter<\/a>, former managing partner of Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte) and former president of the New York State Society of CPAs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among our Arthur H. Carter scholarship recipients are Lainey, who completed a technology risk assurance internship at EY in Cleveland and has accepted a full-time job offer with the company; and Nathan, who plans to become a tax attorney<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite class as an accountancy major has been ACC 343, Federal Income Tax Accounting. This class solidified my future path, attending law school and working as a tax attorney.<\/p>Nathan leipheimer<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rolland L. Ewell Accountancy Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>
\n

This scholarship was established in 1992 through a gift from Rolland L. Ewell. Rolland “Dan” Ewell graduated from Miami University in 1961 with a B.S. from the Farmer School of Business. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and Beta Alpha Psi honorary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Ewell grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Brighton, Ohio, before moving to Fresno, California in 1961. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant in the area of real estate development and management. Thereafter, Dan became well-known as a pioneer in the development and management of commercial pistachio orchards and other agricultural commodities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryan Pasko<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

EY Accountancy Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>
\n

This scholarship is funded by Miami alumni who work at EY and is awarded to students on the basis of demonstrated leadership in extracurricular or service activities, an outstanding academic record, and a commitment to a career in public accounting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harold W. Jasper Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>
\n

This scholarship was established by the Miami University Accounting Department in honor of Professor Harold W. Jasper. Mr. Jasper received his B.S. in Business from Miami University in 1952 and a M.S. from Miami in 1954. He taught at Miami from 1952\u20131956 then went to the University of Illinois, where he did Ph.D. graduate work, taught, and was an internal auditor for the university. He returned to Miami University in 1959 and was Professor of Accountancy until December of 1995. Mr. Jasper received the 1990 Outstanding Ohio Accounting Educator Award from the Ohio Society of CPAs and the Ohio Region of the American Accounting Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Jasper served on the Miami University Council from 1970 to 1985. He was a member of the Athletic Advisory Board starting in 1971 and served a Chair from 1984 to 1988, representing Miami to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Mid-American Conference, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. He also served as advisor to Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Pi and Beta Alpha Psi fraternities. Mr. Jasper was an active member of the community and was named Oxford Citizen of the Year in 1987. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PwC Accountancy Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>

PwC scholarships are awarded to students with a demonstrated record of leadership, participation in extracurricular, or service activities as well as an outstanding academic record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rankin Accountancy Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>

This scholarship was established by Dr. Larry Rankin in 2001. Dr. Rankin received his BS and MBA from Indiana University and his PhD from Michigan State in 1982. He was a professor of Accountancy in the Farmer School of Business until his retirement from Miami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracin completed an audit assurance internship with EY during the summer of 2025 and will be returning to EY full time this upcoming fall.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

William H. Schaefer Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>

William (Bill) Schaefer served as Chairman and CEO of certified public accounting firm, Clark, Shaefer, Hackett & Co., which serves clients throughout Central and Southwest Ohio. A 1954 graduate of Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, he joined the firm in 1956 after serving two years with the U.S. Army in Korea, becoming partner in 1961, President in 1972, and Chairman in 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bill is an active member of the Middletown community and served as Trustee for the First United Methodist Church and the Middletown Community Foundation. He has been a member of the Butler County Finance Review Committee and the Board of Education for the Middletown City School District. In 2016, he and his wife Patricia (’54) were honored with the Robert \u201cSonny\u201d Hill Jr. Humanitarian Award for their “hard work, tenacity and vision that have contributed to the progress of the Middletown community.” [Journal-News<\/a>]<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

William D. Stiles Deloitte & Touche Memorial Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>
\n

This scholarship was established in 1988 by the parents of William D. Stiles, Class of 1980, in his memory. While at Miami, William was an officer and outstanding contributor to Beta Alpha Psi and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honorary. He was a certified public accountant employed by Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. William’s positive attitude, high moral standards, and strong sense of duty were always apparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

William R. and Irene R. Vogel Memorial Scholarship<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>
\n

This scholarship was established in 1986 by Willis Vogel and his wife Eleanor in honor of his parents, William and Irene Vogel. William Vogel was a printer by profession. His real love, however, was music. He was the organist and choir director at his church until his death at age 83. After attending Albany Normal School, Irene Vogel became a teacher. She taught history and geography to seventh and eighth grade students and loved story-telling and giving oral book reviews. Irene died at the age of 96.

Willis Vogel is a 1947 Miami graduate who was employed by General Electric and V. & O. Press Companies until his retirement in 1984.  Eleanor graduated from Buffalo State Teachers College; she taught elementary school for 25 years until her retirement in 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The William R. and Irene R. Vogel Scholarship is awarded to worthy students enrolled full time at the Oxford campus. Preference is given to graduate students in the School of Business who are Accountancy majors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
