Two years since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the organization was finally able to start meeting in-person again. This transition from virtual to in-person meetings brought along many challenges with reintegrating chapter members, old and new, back into the traditional meeting settings. Through these meetings, BAP was successful in connecting chapter members with professional firms. This resulted in sophomore and junior members gaining the necessary business skills to succeed in their future employment opportunities. Likewise, many members reported obtaining valuable connections with employers, which has led to many internship and job offers. This was well demonstrated during BAP’s annual Spring Showcase event, where over 20 professional companies were present. This allowed chapter members to network with dozens of businesses and practice interviewing skills.

The summer and fall of 2022 has seen the chapter continue to develop its reach in professional relations with firms and students. The chapter held professional meetings with KPMG, BDO, Grant Thornton, Plante Moran, and Anderson Tax, among others. But the greatest triumph of the fall semester so far has been BAP’s annual Meet The Firms event. With over 27 companies present, the event attracted over 170 students in attendance. As the fall semester comes to a close, BAP will continue to expand creatively and professionally in order to provide better business opportunities to chapter members.

In the Spring of 2022, the organization welcomed new leadership on the executive team for the 2022–2023 academic year. BAP’s leadership team currently comprises:

Matt Kurtz, President & Treasurer

Patrick Johnson, VP of Programming & Reporting

Dominik Del Ghingaro, VP of Professional Relations

Gabe Sundberg, VP of Membership

Accounting Association Update

by Jack Pleiman, Class of 2024

In 2022, The Accounting Association at Miami University shifted many of its leadership positions. Amanda Pyzoha still remains the organization’s advisor; however, the organization is now being run by three sophomores. Jack Pleiman is the newly elected president, alongside Carolyn Grube as the newest treasurer, with Ethan Campbell taking over the vice president of relations position. These three have made it their objective to continue to grow interest in the industry and the field as a whole.

The Accounting Association is a business organization within the Farmer School of Business that is open to any grade and major. It is typically dominated by firt and second year accounting majors. This is the case due to the organization’s agenda, which is to try to inform students of their opportunities and give them chances to connect with people in those industries. They do this through weekly meetings with some of the largest employers for Miami accounting students, such as the “Big 4” firms, larger finance-oriented firms, and other common employers.

None of this has changed, but with new leadership, the organization is also trying to expose members to more employers who are unable to meet with them. There are only so many weeks in a year, and ultimately, availability can be tough, but the president has made efforts to get in contact with those that cannot meet and still share information regarding these opportunities with the organization. The organization sends out emails from employers, campus recruiters, or anyone else that contacts them about opportunities that they want to share with the members of the organization. Ultimately, the organization’s goal is to increase interest in the accounting major, as well as show those who have interest all of the amazing paths that they can take in their life after graduation, and attempt to set them on that path accordingly.

BETA ALPHA PSI UPDATE By Matt Kurtz, Class of 2023 The Spring of 2022 saw a great transition in the Omega Chapter of Beta Alpha […]

["post-424","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
