This scholarship was established by the estate of Marjorie Sells Carter in memory of her late husband, Maj. Gen. Arthur H. Carter, former managing partner of Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte) and former president of the New York State Society of CPAs.
Among our Arthur H. Carter scholarship recipients are Jocelyn, our EY Student-Scholar; Tommy, who recently completed an audit internship at KPMG; and Ella, who completed an internship at Blue & Co. (Indianapolis) and will be interning in audit at PwC (Chicago) this summer.

During my audit internship with KPMG, I worked with a variety of manufacturing clients, both large and small. Collaborating with these clients and my engagement team expanded my understanding of the accounting field and the overall business process. Through technology and team communication, I gained firsthand experience that challenged the stereotype of accountants as “number crunchers sitting at a desk all day” and demonstrated that accountants can make an impact comparable to professionals in any other field.
Tommy Bandedo ’26
My favorite moment as an Accountancy major was going through Big 4 Recruitment and securing an Audit and Assurance internship with Deloitte for Summer 2026! I was able to attend the Deloitte National Leadership Conference in April 2025 as well!

Donald graduated from Miami University in 1993 with a B.S. in Accountancy and joined Deloitte & Touche LLP in 1995, where he was a senior accountant.

She was an active member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

This scholarship is funded by Miami alumni who work at EY and is awarded to students on the basis of demonstrated leadership in extracurricular or service activities, an outstanding academic record, and a commitment to a career in public accounting.
Dylan Allen • Reese Cordonnier • Austin T. Priestle • Wyatt C. Wahl
Reese is one of our student representatives in the Accountancy Advisory Group and also serves as the teaching assistant manager for ACC 221. She is looking forward to attending the Farmer School of Business London study abroad internship program for Summer 2026.

One of my favorite parts of being an accountancy major at Miami University has been getting to know so many incredible professors who genuinely care about their students’ success. Their mentorship and guidance have shaped my academic path and helped me discover where I want to take my career. The relationships I built and the lessons I learned from them ultimately led to receiving the Ernst & Young Accountancy Scholarship, which was a rewarding reminder of how impactful the Miami accounting community has been on my journey.
Wyatt C. Wahl ’27

Elizabeth M. Bauer • Sharayah Robinson • Mitchell J. Sayers

Elizabeth is looking forward to continuing her accountancy journey at Deloitte this summer.
Studying abroad in Luxembourg was a once-in-a-lifetime experience within my journey as an accounting student, for which I am grateful to have had. The scholarships I received played a major role in making this opportunity possible, and I’m very thankful for the support. While studying business abroad, I have gained a deeper understanding of how accounting shapes the world we live in and the importance it plays in businesses across the globe. Beyond academics, I developed important skills such as adaptability, cross-cultural communication, problem-solving, and being confident in myself. This experience not only broadened my perspective and strengthened the skills that I will carry into my career, but also gave me memories that I will never forget.
Mitchell J. Sayers ’27
The First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC) has been my most impactful experience so far. It not only deepened my understanding of business but also showed me how to use my personal experiences and personality to collaborate effectively with peers, employers, and in professional settings. I am so excited to continue growing throughout my journey.
-Sharayah Robinson ’28
This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more student(s) majoring in accountancy who have met certain academic criteria.
Audrey E. Carr • Shaneka T. Gunasekera

This scholarship was established in 1978 in honor of Joseph B. and Esther K. Paperman, the parents of Dr. Jacob B. Paperman, a faculty member in the Department of Accountancy from 1972 to 1981. Joseph and Esther Paperman were devoted parents and grandparents who instilled in their children the importance of education and high moral standards.

Emma interned in FSO Audit over this past summer at EY (Cleveland) and has accepted a full-time offer with the office.

A notable internship experience I’ve had was working as a Revenue Accounting Intern at Six Flags. This role gave me the opportunity to see firsthand the financial operations behind amusement parks, and I gained a deeper understanding of how decisions are made, such as which roller coasters to invest in. I found it super interesting how much goes into it!

Kelly A. Booms graduated from the Farmer School of Business in 1999 with a BS in Accounting and Finance. While at Miami University, Kelly was active in many organizations, including Delta Sigma Pi, Beta Alpha Psi, intramural athletics, and a campus bible study group. She was a hard and dedicated worker with a real zest for life. Following an internship in Cincinnati, Kelly went to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston in the assurance practice. Tragically, Kelly was a victim of the events taking place at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. PricewaterhouseCoopers, in conjunction with Kelly’s parents, have created this scholarship as a permanent recognition of Kelly to honor her memory and her time at Miami University.
