Thank you, Dale!

In May, we were sad that we had to say goodbye to Dale Stoel, who embarked on a new adventure—retirement!

Dale joined us nearly twenty years ago, bringing an impressive résumé and a background that was equal parts engineer and consultant. A Purdue man with a Buckeye doctorate, he had exactly the right combination of skills, and wasted no time putting them to use.

When something needed doing, Dale simply did it. He didn’t wait for memos or committees. He has always raised his hand to help, and has always had the best interests of our students at the heart of what he does. Dale drove curriculum and strategy with a sharp, focused mind; built the 3+1 program; and was usually the first person in the room at events to recruit new students to Miami and accountancy.

After more than forty years in the workforce, the time came for Dale to balance the books—and on his ledger, the credit column is overflowing. He came, he saw, he contributed, and along the way, he won everyone over and made a lasting mark on Miami.

We’re lucky that Dale and his wife still have a home in Oxford, so we get to see him at his favorite haunts around town (e.g., the golf course)!
