The Accountancy Advisory Group (AAG) met with faculty on Friday, November 18. Joining the AAG members, led by Executive Committee member Jay Moeller along with Accountancy Interim Chair Professor Annie Farrell, were colleagues from the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA), who participated via Zoom: Craig Marshall (Ernst & Young and Board Chair), Lori Kaiser (Kaiser Consulting and Past Board Chair), Kyle Bickhart (Chief Operating Officer), and Becky Hixen (Director of Student & Young Professional Initiatives).

Central to the discussion was a brainstorming session on how to build the pipeline of accountancy majors and graduates.

Anthony Patrick, one of our MAcc students and a PCAOB scholar, joined the meeting for the pipeline discussion (see photo, far left). Anthony has had an interest in the accountancy field since high school and participated in OSCPA programs to attract students to the field, including the Accounting Careers Awareness Program and CPA Camp. He was recently awarded the organization’s 2021 ACLA scholarship.

Agenda topics also included the department’s marketing and development efforts, and curriculum brainstorming sessions on incorporating ESG throughout the curriculum (led by Professor Matt Wieland) and modes of delivery for introductory accounting courses (led by Professor Michele Frank). The day concluded with an executive session to update AAG committee structure and member tasks.
