Congratulations to EY Professional Development Advisor Amanda Pyzoha, who received the Miami University Office of the Provost Award for Excellence in Advising! This award is given each year to two recipients who demonstrate excellence in four areas: high quality of information and advice, outstanding support of students, accessibility to students, and exceptional leadership in advising.
FSB Assistant Dean & Director of Divisional Advising Chanelle White nominated Amanda for this distinction. In her letter of recommendation, she cited Amanda’s efforts in advising students pursuing the Combined Bachelor and Master of Accountancy Program. “This type of advising is the most complex work that an advisor can engage in. Amanda has to not only master the requirements of the undergraduate curriculum, but also the graduate school as well. In addition, she routinely advises students on the requirements to take the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) exam.” Also highlighted were Amanda’s “high ethic of care for students,” her work with first-generation college students and students of color, and her leadership in training and support for other academic advisers in the Farmer School of Business.
Accountancy Department Interim Chair Annie Farrell stated, “Amanda Pyzoha embodies Miami’s code of Love and Honor. Her dedication to honesty and integrity, diversity, respect for the dignity of others, and support for students and colleagues is unmatched. Not to mention the fact that Amanda’s warmth and smile can brighten anyone’s day! We are so lucky to have her.”
