Members of the student organization Women Who Invest, which is led by Accountancy and Business Analytics student Riya Porwal ’26, gave a presentation during the Miami Women Leadership Symposium held May 3 at the Donald W. Fritz Pavilion, Armstrong Student Center. Topics covered in the symposium included driving change in global communities, leading with artificial intelligence, promoting financial literacy, and creating more opportunities for women in male-dominated industries. This year’s keynote speaker was Barbara Pierce Bush, co-founder and board chair of Global Health Corps.
Other team members included Hannah Goyetche ’26 (Supply Chain and Operations Management, Sustainability, and Energy), Celia Powers ’26 (Art History and Physics), and Madeleine Zehr ’26 (Business Economics). The goal of the team’s presentation was “to share investing tips and how our audience can start their investing journey and, at the same time, stress the importance of investing.” The presentation covered the basics of investing, understanding a “money mindset,” setting financial goals, and real-world applications.

In addition to leading Women Who Invest, Porwal serves as the vice president of business organizations for the Business Student Advisory Council at the Farmer School of Business. She also is a tutor at the Rinella Learning Center.
