This scholarship was established by the estate of Marjorie Sells Carter in memory of her late husband, Maj. Gen. Arthur H. Carter, former managing partner of Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte) and former president of the New York State Society of CPAs.
Among our Arthur H. Carter scholarship recipients are Ella, an athlete on the track and field team; Sonja, who completed a tax internship while studying abroad in London; and Kyle, who has accepted a financial planning internship at Personal Choice Financial Advisors for summer 2025.
This scholarship is awarded to one or more undergraduate students majoring in Accounting within the Farmer School of Business who demonstrate financial need and to support the educational diversity at the University, consistent with the University’s mission and admissions policy.

Among our Forvis Mazars scholars are Leia, who is part of the Women in Accounting club; and Cohen, who will be an audit intern at Forvis Mazars in the summer of 2025.
My favorite moment so far was doing the Honors Project for ACC 221 last fall with Dr. Frank! We got to pick two competing companies and then analyze and compare their financial statements, and make a decision about who we would potentially invest in and display everything in a slide deck. So much fun!

This scholarship was established in 1997 by partners and employees of Deloitte & Touche LLP and the family of Donald M. Lutz to honor his memory. Donald M. Lutz graduated from Miami University in 1993 with a B.S. in Accountancy and joined Deloitte & Touche LLP in 1995, where he was a senior accountant.
Blaire is currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy. She has completed an internship at MAI Capital Management and will be a tax intern at EY in summer 2025.
Blaire’s favorite accountancy experience: “ACC 256 class when we got to hear from different guest speakers every week.”
This scholarship was established by Deloitte & Touche LLP and the family of Maureen R. Mushat to honor her memory. Maureen graduated summa cum laude from Miami University in 1995 with a degree in accountancy and served as a staff accountant at Deloitte & Touche. She was an active member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. This scholarship is awarded to a junior accountancy major from the Cleveland Area based on academic merit and financial need.
This scholarship was established in 1989 to honor Dr. E. Ben Yager, a long-time professor in the Department of Accountancy from 1955 to 1989. His expertise in teaching was in the area of auditing and financial accounting. He served as Chairman of the department from l966 to l970.
This scholarship is funded by Miami alumni who work at EY and is awarded to students on the basis of demonstrated leadership in extracurricular or service activities, an outstanding academic record, and a commitment to a career in public accounting.

As part of her internship at the Toledo EY office, Isabella traveled to Baltimore, MD, for the National Launch Training conference with 600+ other launch interns and EY professionals.
The best part of being an accountancy major at Miami is the quality of the faculty and staff. They all go above and beyond and have made my entire college experience!

This scholarship was established in 1978 in honor of Joseph B. and Esther K. Paperman, the parents of Dr. Jacob B. Paperman, a faculty member in the Department of Accountancy from 1972 to 1981. Joseph and Esther Paperman were devoted parents and grandparents who instilled in their children the importance of education and high moral standards.

Sonja completed a tax internship at Progress Accountancy & Advise Ltd. while studying abroad in London this past summer.
The Plante Moran Scholarship is awarded to one or more sophomore students majoring in Accountancy within the Farmer School of Business.
PwC scholarships are awarded to students with a demonstrated record of leadership, participation in extracurricular, or service activities as well as an outstanding academic record.

Among our PwC scholars is Gina, who has helped the department in its outreach to high school students. Gracin completed a forensic accounting internship at Meaden & Moore, and Emma will be working after graduation at KPMG Chicago’s financial due diligence group.
Kelly A. Booms graduated from the Farmer School of Business in 1999 with a BS in Accounting and Finance. While at Miami University, Kelly was active in many organizations, including Delta Sigma Pi, Beta Alpha Psi, intramural athletics, and a campus bible study group. She was a hard and dedicated worker with a real zest for life. Following an internship in Cincinnati, Kelly went to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston in the assurance practice. Tragically, Kelly was a victim of the events taking place at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. PricewaterhouseCoopers, in conjunction with Kelly’s parents, have created this scholarship as a permanent recognition of Kelly to honor her memory and her time at Miami University.

Ben Lim successfully passed the Certified Management Accountant exam while he was a junior and completed an audit and assurance internship this summer at Grossman Yanak and Ford LLP.
My favorite Accounting Class was ACC 321 with Professor Burke!
Rachel Banitt
This scholarship was established in 1988 by the parents of William D. Stiles, Class of 1980, in his memory. While at Miami, William was an officer and outstanding contributor to Beta Alpha Psi and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honorary. He was a certified public accountant employed by Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. William’s positive attitude, high moral standards, and strong sense of duty were always apparent.

Paul has interned at CliftonLarsonAllen for the past two summers and will be working there full time as a tax and audit associate following graduation. Alaska was a financial analyst intern last summer in Amazon’s equity accounting team. Emma is one of two winners of the prestigious PCAOB award.
I’m grateful to Miami University for the preparation and support that made this [Amazon internship] possible. Contributing to the financial statements of a globally recognized company was an amazing experience. I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a full-time position and will officially join Amazon in Seattle, Washington next fall!

- Andersen Alumni Accounting Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to senior accountancy majors and master of accountancy students, based on academic merit.
- Daniel Leshner Beta Alpha Psi Scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Mr. Daniel Leshner, who graduated from Miami University in 1984 with a degree in accountancy. He spent his short professional career working in the Cleveland office of Ernst & Whinney. The award is given annually to an outstanding member of the Beta Alpha Psi chapter at Miami University.
- Department of Accountancy Spencer Center Scholarship Fund. This is awarded to one or more undergraduate students from typically underrepresented populations that demonstrate financial need. Scholarship recipients are nominated from the partnership program with the Cincinnati Public Schools Spencer Center.
- Dr. Gyan Chandra Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Gyan Chandra, beloved accounting professor at Miami University. He was honored with the C. Rollin Niswonger Professorship in 1989, which he held until his passing on May 3, 2005. Among his most notable professional awards, he was named the Outstanding Ohio Accounting Educator in 1996.
- Grant Thornton LLP Accountancy Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to one or more student(s) majoring in accountancy who have met certain academic criteria.
