ACC 221 Hosts Alumni Speakers

A view of Taylor Auditorium filled with students listening to speaker Kristin Farrell

Students in ACC 221, Introduction to Financial Accounting, were treated to a discussion on careers in accountancy with visiting alumni. Chrissy Walters ’02, internal audit director at American Greetings; Lori Kaiser ’85, founder and strategic advisor at Kaiser Consulting, and Kristin Farrell ’94, CFO of Xtek, shared their journeys in their accountancy careers.

The speakers emphasized how their careers differed from the traditional stereotypes that students may associate with a career in accounting. They also spoke about the value of their accountancy degree from Miami and the many doors it has opened for them, as well as the most rewarding facets of their careers.

Our alumni speakers have been invaluable in conveying the value of understanding accountancy to all students—not just those who want to major in accountancy. We invite all our alums to participate! If you are interested, please send us a message at accdept@miamioh.edu.
