Professor Anne Farrell Speaks at OSCPA Workforce Development Summit

On September 27, Professor and Interim Department Chair Anne Farrell gave a speech at the Ohio Society of CPAs‘ Workforce Development Summit from her perspective as the American Accounting Association‘s VP-Finance about the national accountancy pipeline challenges. The goal of the summit was to help build a community of professionals, faculty, and others from around Ohio who will tackle accountancy talent shortages.

The event was well attended by representatives from the government, including Lt. Governor Jon Husted; CPA firms such as EY; educators; and other CPAs and leaders in the accounting field. Several Miami alums were present, including Accountancy Advisory Group members Kyle Bickhart ’99 (OSCPA), Beth Carlton ’99 (Progressive Insurance), Jenny Harves ’99 (Western and Southern Financial Group), and Lori Kaiser ’85 (Kaiser Consulting); OSCPA staff members Laura Hay ’88 and Rebecca Hixen ’05; City of Toledo Councilwoman Katherine Moline ’06; and Vincent Joseph ’14 from the Office of the Ohio Auditor of State.
