Each year, students in Professor Annie Farrell’s class ACC 635, Financial Leadership in Organizations, get the opportunity to interview a chief financial officer and learn about what it takes to be a CFO. Working in teams, students learn about how the many different paths different leaders take, their challenges throughout their careers and in their daily responsibilities, and how these leaders work with others in their company.
This interview culminates in an interview article writing project aimed at sharing the team’s findings with their classmates. One such article was written by Preston Buscher, Leah Cox, Rachael Miller, and Michael Morelli, who chose to interview Miami alum T.J. LaMendola, CFO of the Columbus Blue Jackets. We invite you to read their story here.
