Welcome to Kathleen Killian’s Behavioral Neurobiology Laboratory in the Department of Biology at Miami University.

We are interested in neural mechanisms of how cell junctions influence communication within the brain and how stress affects behavioral plasticity. In particular, we investigate how an animal’s experiences or motivational state can influence its behavioral responses.

We use a variety of experimental approaches including behavioral & immune assays, immunocytochemistry, confocal microscopy, and molecular biology techniques (RNAi, PCR, qPCR).
