November 21, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UPDATE<\/strong>: Writer\u2019s Harvest benefit reading and art auction raised over a thousand dollars and still coming in for TOPSS,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/interland3.donorperfect.net\/weblink\/WebLink.aspx?name=E357816&amp;id=9\" target=\"_blank\">Talawanda Oxford Pantry and Social Services (TOPSS<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.galaxydigital.com\/agency\/detail\/?agency_id=89451\" target=\"_blank\">)<\/a>. It featured wonderful readings from Miami University MFA graduate students and was organized by the creative writing program students and faculty along with Western College. Creative writing director\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.brianroley.com\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Ascalon Roley<\/a> hosted, with artist Billy Simms handling the art auction. While this event is held annually around Thanksgiving, TOPSS\u2019s efforts are year round and it\u2019s still not too late to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/topsspantry\/donate\" target=\"_blank\">donate<\/a>\u00a0on their website. Thanks to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: One of our Writers Harvest readers, Danton Remoto, is having a book launch here at Miami University (and also on Zoom)  on Feb 22, 2024, so keep an eye out here and on our <a href=\"https:\/\/events.miamioh.edu\/group\/english\">events list<\/a>. This event is hosted by the Miami Director of Creative Writing, Brian Ascalon Roley, and co-sponsored by the Miami University <a href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.edu\/cas\/departments\/english\/creative-writing\/index.html\">Creative Writing<\/a> program &amp; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.edu\/cas\/departments\/english\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">English Department<\/a>, and the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.edu\/cas\/departments\/western\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Western Center<\/a> for Social Impact and Innovation. Donations support local food pantry and social services nonprofit, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.topss.org\/donate\" target=\"_blank\">TOPPS<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Art Auction is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1ztkcrwmXCYqy4EdkVrl9mQ_X_l48jJsbgB--kGfejwg\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">live and open to bids<\/a> for charity. You can view the art work and make bids.
