This piece<br>\nsubliminally deals with the complex topics of adolescence and<br>\nemerging sexuality in young girls as they begin to discover<br>\ntheir new and changing bodies. The cloudy mass of birds is a<br>\nnod to the natural development of the human body, tying<br>\nadolescence to the cyclical nature of life. This piece contrasts<br>\nthe wild aspects of sexuality and creation with the controlled<br>\nand reserved figure of Alice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Kiki Smith (American, b.
