She was a highly<br>\nregarded artist during her life, winning numerous awards and<br>\nhonors, exhibiting in the Parisian Salon, and gaining<br>\ninternational recognition. Nourse not only exhibited masterful<br>\ntechnical ability, but was an altruistic philanthropist. She helped<br>\nfeed the children of her models, caring for their sick and needy,<br>\nand helping refugees and artists displaced by WWI. Nourse<br>\nportrayed the daily lives of the peasant women and children<br>\nshe cared for with depth of emotional sympathy.
