Flack stands before her canvas, observing the<br>\nviewer as they watch her. Her body and the surrounding space<br>\nare conveyed through abstract lines, but her face is rendered<br>\nwith purposeful detail. As both artist and subject, Flack\u2019s<br>\nimage is assertive and self-aware. Two abstract faces hover in<br>\nthe background, perhaps as a visual reference to the titular<br>\nmemory. Flack\u2019s career began as a teenager during the<br>\nAbstract Expressionist movement of the 1940s, and as a<br>\npioneer of 1970s Photorealism.
