Jocelyn Wimberly<\/a> is the Assistant Director for Diversity Initiatives in the Center for Career Exploration and Success<\/a> at Miami University. In 2020, she earned her M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education<\/a> from Miami. As part of her current role, she mentors students through Career and Equity Drop-in Advising appointments<\/a>. How did you reach your current position?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While completing my master\u2019s degree at Miami, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Center for Career Exploration and Success. During this time, I gained practical experience, mentorship, and knowledge that led me to my current role. Though I left higher education for about three years to work at Amazon and the Women\u2019s Center of Jacksonville, all of my previous roles are connected to the one I currently have. I accepted this position in January 2023, and I\u2019m so grateful to be able to give back to the community that gave me so many opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did Miami University set you up for success in your career?  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miami equipped me for my career by allowing me to take advantage of countless opportunities. I also was able to form long-lasting relationships with staff, faculty, and employers. I\u2019m excited to showcase these opportunities\u2014and more!\u2014to students who are overlooked or unaware of these possibilities in my current role. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your best piece of career advice for current college students?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s never about how you start. It\u2019s about how you finish. Open yourself up to the possibility of being greater than you ever imagined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
