Kara Isabella<\/a> is the Founder of SlyceUp<\/a>, which aspires to give \u201ceveryday investors\u201d the opportunity to own a slyce<\/em> of the world\u2019s most prime real estate. A 2012 graduate who earned her B.F.A in Graphic Design and her B.A. in History of Art and Architecture, she was a 2016 recipient of the 18 of the Last 9 award<\/a>. How did you reach your current position?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2022, I toured Pr\u00f3spera, a private charter city and special economic zone on the island of Roat\u00e1n in Honduras. After visiting this startup city and seeing the possibilities, I instinctively knew I had to get involved. I\u2019ve since formed an all-female founding team to create a marketplace to buy and sell NFTs in designer buildings. We\u2019re prototyping in Pr\u00f3spera and recently launched our MVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did Miami University set you up for success in your career?  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helen Armstrong was instrumental in my journey. At the time, she was an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. Her class introduced me to a concept that would change my life: social design. Social design combines design methodologies with solving social problems. Since graduating from Miami, I earned my M.F.A. in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and worked at UNICEF to develop a global Digital Workplace used by 19,000+ UNICEF employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your best piece of career advice for current college students?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
