{"id":2989,"date":"2022-11-11T08:54:10","date_gmt":"2022-11-11T13:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/?p=2989"},"modified":"2023-03-02T14:10:29","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T19:10:29","slug":"sre-award-ceremony-results-and-land-acknowledgment-panel-reveal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/2022\/11\/sre-award-ceremony-results-and-land-acknowledgment-panel-reveal\/","title":{"rendered":"SRE Award Ceremony Results and Land Acknowledgment Panel Reveal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Marketing Communications Intern Sarah Snyder<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the evening of November 9, students, faculty, families, and friends gathered in the galleries of the Miami University Art Museum to celebrate <em>Interconnected: Land, Identity, Community (A Student Response Exhibition)<\/em> and its winners, along with the 50th anniversary of the relationship between the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the reception, we celebrated all of the Student Response Exhibition artists, as this year\u2019s student gallery was replete with artwork showing talent, in-depth thought, and emotion. By the end of the night, the three winners of the Student Response Exhibition, who were chosen through open voting, were announced and celebrated, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Kayla Becker, Myaamia student and mother of five, won third place for her artwork <em>niila myaamia \u2013 I Am Miami<\/em>. Her artwork titled <em>Ol\u2019 Iron Eyes<\/em> is a gorgeous hanging display depicting identity, separation, and family in a way that balances industrial metal and light, airy clouds with ease.
