As one of MUAM\u2019s well-loved events, Art Explorers has been an amazing experience for children ages 3-5 and their parents. The free program partners with the Lane Public Library children\u2019s department to let children experience both art and storytelling at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Urayama shares the story of a young girl who loves color while the children eagerly watch and listen.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In September, the first Art Explorers program brought children together for story time, interactive songs, gallery exploration, and a hands-on craft. The story time and sing-along, led by Akiko Urayama from the Lane Public Library, shared colors and shapes with the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The children loved sharing the colors and shapes they found in their own neighborhoods, and they sang, danced, and played with egg shakers as Urayama led them in the activity. Although they\u2019re small, their energy was mighty!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Coordinator Laura Stewart then led children through the gallery to their arts and crafts station, where they cut, glued, and drew their own neighborhoods with a variety of colors!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our student assistant Olivia DeLeon assisted them with the project, and they created some amazing artwork to take home.<\/p>\n<\/div>
