This is your opportunity to show your work (and win cash!) in the Miami University Art Museum! <strong>Submission deadline is March 20, 2022!<\/strong> Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three (guest voted) works in the exhibition: $500 (1st), $250 (2nd) and $100 (3rd).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next Fall, the Miami University Art Museum will display a student response exhibition. This opportunity is open to ALL Miami University students! The <strong>theme<\/strong> is \u201c<em>Miami Interconnected: Land | Identity | Community<\/em>\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2021\/11\/Artboard-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"781\" height=\"202\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2021\/11\/Artboard-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2021\/11\/Artboard-1.png 781w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2021\/11\/Artboard-1-300x78.png 300w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2021\/11\/Artboard-1-768x199.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 781px) 100vw, 781px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>PREMISE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the observance of the 50th anniversary of the relationship<a href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.edu\/miami-tribe-relations\/\"> between the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Miami University,<\/a> we will reflect on the often unseen established rights of tribal sovereignty in North America. Tribal sovereignty includes inherent and retained political rights and cultural integrity. Three key factors in maintaining sovereignty are land, identity, and community. This is the foundation of the Fall 2022 MUAM SRE in conjunction with the Miami University<a href=\"https:\/\/miamioh.edu\/focus\/about.html\"> FOCUS<\/a> topic for the 2022-2023 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PROMPTS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. How do you relate to the land you inhabit?<br>2. How does your identity\/identities (for example, heritage, ethnicity, culture, race, gender) impact who you are today?<br>3. How do you engage with your community?<br>4. How are these all connected for you as an individual and\/or as a Miami student?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this seventh juried Student Response Exhibition, Miami students are called upon to present unique and diverse commentaries on the theme of:&nbsp;<em><strong><em>Miami Interconnected: Land | Identity | Community<\/em><\/strong><\/em>. Interpretations are subject to the student\u2019s personal perspective, major\/minor, culture, age, experiences, etc. Be creative! Selected works in this juried competition will be on display at the Miami University Art Museum as one of the three semester-long exhibitions (<strong>August 23\u2013December 10, 2022<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key dates &amp; information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>-Submissions are open to all Miami students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Original forms of expression, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, prints, jewelry, music, videos, computer interactives and poetry are encouraged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Deadline for submissions is <strong>Sunday, March 20, 2022.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Jury-selected works must be delivered to the Art Museum by <strong>Friday, April 29, 2022<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-All works must be framed and ready to hang, or include any specialized display mounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-For more details and to submit visit <strong><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/fa22sre\">tinyurl.com\/fa22sre<\/a><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Hit the drawing board and get creative! Submissions can be in the form of sculpture, painting, ceramics, drawing, prints, jewelry, music, videos, computer interactives, poetry or whatever else you are inspired to create. Each participant can submit up to three works.
