She is most well-known for photographing herself under different guises that represented various personas. The characters she portrays represent identity stereotypes from throughout the history of art, advertising, cinema, and other media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She began creating her series <em>Untitled Film Stills<\/em> when she was only 23 years old. These photographs featured herself in various costumes and poses that portrayed various female stereotypes found in film, television, and advertising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2019\/11\/830_1995_CR-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1960\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2019\/11\/830_1995_CR-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2019\/11\/830_1995_CR-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2019\/11\/830_1995_CR-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.miamioh.edu\/art-museum\/files\/2019\/11\/830_1995_CR.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of her photographs, <em>Untitled #117, <\/em>can be found in the ongoing exhibition, <em>Art History at a Glance<\/em> (in gallery 4) at the Miami University Art Museum. <em>Untitled #117<\/em> (1983) is a part of Sherman&#8217;s <em>Fashion<\/em> series.
