At Miami, Josie is a member of the Japanese Culture and Language Club, MU Fencing, and the Visual Arts Club. She enjoys drawing, painting, cooking, and fencing; and her favorite genres of art are animation, illustrations, and comic art. Her dream job is to be a director or key frame animator for movies!

The Student Response Exhibition asked students to think beyond physical limits with the concept of a box. For Josie’s illustration, titled We Shouldn’t Be Shadows, she states,

“Exploring the box as representative of personal possession and, more specifically, of having a home, this piece illustrates the value of humans over their possessions. Covered in personal stories of people I have met in Cincinnati who experience homelessness, the human figure is a ghostly but large shadow behind the home, exemplifying how we may see possession first but that humanity is far greater.”

Come see the exhibition and vote for your top three favorites!
