Our fifth Student Response Exhibition, Outside the Box, is open, and you can come check out the unique creations of 34 students (and vote for your favorite)!

This is the first post in a series featuring the artists, where we will shine a spotlight on the creators behind Outside the Box.

Meet our first featured artist, Breanna Cole!

Breanna is a Junior Studio Art Major from Springboro, OH!

She came to Miami because a lot of family came here, and she heard all good things. At Miami, Breanna is a member of the Visual Arts Club. Breanna enjoys playing video games and drawing in her free time, and her favorite genre of art is Classical, specifically Renaissance. Her absolute dream job is to become a medical illustrator.

The Student Response Exhibition asked students to think beyond physical limits with the concept of a box. For Breanna’s piece, titled Ayomide Omoloja, she states,

“Ayomide Omoloja takes inspiration from a mixture of my African Art History course and my boyfriend, whom the piece is named after. He is the subject, mixed with a traditional floral and bead headpiece found in Nigerian culture. I wanted the viewer’s eye to engage the whole artwork from top to bottom in looking at the details in the headpiece, to the 3D beadwork in the lower half.”

Come see the exhibition and vote for your top three favorites! Voting will continue until April 6 and the exhibition celebration and awards ceremony will be held on April 9, from 7-9 p.m.
