My name is Katrina, and I am a senior at Miami University. I am majoring in Art and Architecture History and minoring in Arts Management and Classical Humanities. I have a strong interest in future work in a museum, something I hope to work towards following graduation from Miami at the end of the upcoming spring semester.

My journey at the Miami University Art Museum began in the summer of 2015, when I began an internship to fulfill field study requirements for my major with Laura Stewart, the museum’s Registrar and Collections Manager. Little did I know that this would lead to a year-long cross-disciplinary internship experience here at the Art Museum. At the end of my Collections Management internship in the fall, I decided to continue on at the museum, next interning with Sherri Krazl, the Coordinator of Marketing and Communications. We decided early on that it would be beneficial for my possible future in museum work to turn my experience here into a broad and comprehensive look at the operations of the museum. As a result, in the upcoming semester I will be working with a broad range of museum staff, continuing to learn about collections management and conservation with Laura, helping with curating with Jason Shaiman – the Curator of Exhibitions, and working with Sherri in marketing and communications, as well as working with Bob Wicks – the Director of the museum.

One of my first major projects with Sherri was the creation of this blog, which is intended to act as a forum for the interns and students working at the museum to share their experiences and activities in the museum. I will be posting here weekly, sharing my own experiences interning at MUAM, as well as an inside look at the goings-on behind the scenes at the museum.
